Located on both banks of the Arno river which probably led Julio Ceaser to settle around where the city is today and making it a Roman colony around the 59 B.C. In the middle ages during the dispute between (Guelphs) that stood for the Pope and (Ghibellines) which were on the Holy Roman Empire side Florence become very popular since it was led by the Guephs. In the 14th century a family called Medici took a lot a power becoming the private bankers of the Pope, they ruled for over 300 years commissioning, for their private collections or for religious purposes, artist like Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and many more to accomplish statues paintings and palaces. That is why today Florence is consider the "mother of Renaissance".

Pisa, for much of the middle ages dominated the Mediterranean Sea trading links with Spain and North Africa bringing wealth and formed the basis of a cultural revolution which still reflects today in the splendid buildings that we have left like the Duomo, Baptistery and the Campanile "Leaning Tower".

The Tour is 9/h usually it starts at 08:00AM . Your driver will meet you right under the ship holding a sign with your last name on it he will always monitor time in order to have you back to the ship by 05:30 pm at the latest. The drive to city center and back to the port, due to traffic, is about 1,5/h each way. The driver is allowed to enter the ancient area of the downtown so that you can have an easy access by foot to the main focus areas, the Duomo, the Campanile and Baptistery. From there you can reach the famous Ponte Vecchio (old bridge) passing buy the Palazzo Vecchio (town hall). We will make arrangements for you to visit the David and right after go for a typical local lunch. On the way back to the ship just a quick stop in Pisa to visit the famous Leaning Tower.
